2015 was a significant year for REFBC. We surpassed $73 million in total grants approved (since 1988), made a $1-million grant to help seed a BC Water Legacy Fund and began a three-phase special project to explore ways to help make our built environment more sustainable.

Highlights:

• REFBC awarded 46 grants, totaling over $3.7 million, including a $1-million grant to seed a fund that will support communities to engage in watershed governance within BC’s new Water Sustainability Act.
• We released a new three-year strategic plan, which balances granting priorities with opportunities for leading proactive projects.
• We filmed two Spotlight videos to highlight the work our grantees are doing to build a more sustainable province.
• Our Investment Committee began work to re-examine our portfolio to ensure that our investing practices align with our values as a grantmaker.
