Annual Report: 2020-21 at REFBC

The year challenged us to change how we think and act about our approach to sustainable land use and real estate practices so that equity and social justice are at the fore. It called us to address how past and present patterns of colonialism and systemic racism connect to our work, and continue to cause harm. We have much more work to do.
In our annual report, we are pleased to share stories of activities, learning, and impact that the Foundation has been advancing.

2020-21 Highlights
- With support from the Province of British Columbia and in partnership with Watersheds BC, we are administering $27 million through the Healthy Watersheds Initiative to create jobs, protect watersheds, and strengthen communities.
- Our Board of Governors approved nearly $2 million in grants for 32 projects. This includes $117,750 for projects led by non-profits that are part of BC’s real estate sector.
- Our Board also approved $425,000 of impact investments in companies and funds that provide social, environmental, and financial returns.
- We made progress on commitments to reconciliation with Indigenous peoples through increased grants, staff and board learning, and community connections.
