Seeking funding for a project that supports sustainable, equitable, and socially just land use practices in BC?
The Real Estate Foundation of BC is now accepting applications for General Grants as part of its winter 2022 intake. Applications are due on February 25, 2022.
Note: This will be the only General Grants intake in 2022.
What follows is a quick (five Ws and one H) introduction to our General Grants stream. For detailed information, see the Grants section of our website.
Who can apply?
Any non-profit organization or community contribution company working on land use or real estate issues in BC is eligible to apply. We define non-profits as including First Nations, charities and societies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), universities and colleges, trade associations, and local and regional governments.
We do not accept applications from individuals or for-profit companies.
What do we fund?
REFBC grants support applied research, public and professional education, and policy analysis in five interest areas: Land Use, Built Environments, Fresh Water, Food Lands, and Real Estate Profession.
REFBC prioritizes projects that support our vision of sustainable, equitable, and socially just land use and real estate practices in BC (see our new Strategic Plan 2022-2025). REFBC is particularly interested in projects that support Indigenous rights and interests in land use and real estate. REFBC is also interested in projects that advance justice and equity for communities historically and systematically excluded from land use and real estate decision-making.
When is the application deadline?
Applications are due on February 25, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. PST.
Where must projects be based?
Projects must be based in BC. We have funded projects in every region of the province.
Why does REFBC give grants?
Our vision is a healthy environment that supports thriving, resilient, liveable communities from one generation to the next (see our Strategic Plan). Accordingly, we invest in projects that contribute to positive impacts on sustainable, equitable, and socially just land use and real estate practices in BC.
To learn more about our approach, see our Impact Guide.
How can non-profits apply?
Applications must be submitted through an online form. A Word template is available to help applicants draft their responses prior to submission.
Note: We recognize that digital literacy, access, and Internet connectivity are not universal. If completing an online written application presents a barrier, please contact us at grants@refbc.com prior to the application deadline to arrange accommodation.
