Real Estate Industry Grants: Applications Open for 2025
The Real Estate Foundation of BC (REFBC) is now accepting applications for Real Estate Industry Grants.
Applications are due December 8, 2025. This will be our only Real Estate Industry Grants intake in 2025.
REFBC makes grants to advance sustainability, equity, and social justice in relation to land use and real estate practices in BC.
What follows is a quick (five Ws and one H) introduction to our Real Estate Industry Grants stream.
Who can apply?
The following non-profit organizations serving real estate professionals in BC are eligible to apply:
- Regional real estate boards
- BC Real Estate Association
- Real Estate Institute of BC
If your organizations does not fit the above criteria, we suggest taking a look at our General Grants stream. (For General Grants, we accept applications from First Nations, non-profit organizations, universities, trade associations, and local governments. We prioritize grants to Indigenous-led organizations.)
We do not accept applications from individuals or for-profit companies.
What do we fund?
REFBC grants support law and policy reform, applied research, community engagement, professional education, and public education in five priority areas:
- Land Use
- Fresh Water
- Built Environments
- Food Sovereignty
- Real Estate Profession
Make sure to review our Guide to Funding Priorities for details.
More and more, REFBC-funded projects are upholding or advancing the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). We have committed to aligning our grantmaking with UNDRIP, as outlined in our plan, Transformative Actions for UNDRIP Advancement.
We’re particularly interested in projects that help real estate professionals:
- Grow their knowledge of Indigenous rights, climate solutions, and systemic racism in land use.
- Promote justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in the industry.
- Build relationships with First Nations and racialized communities.
- Contribute to reconciliation, climate action, and the public interest.
To see what we’ve previously funded, browse our Grantee Projects directory.
When is the application deadline?
Applications are due Monday, December 8, 2025, at 5 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.
Subscribe for deadline alerts.
Grants are typically awarded in March.
Where must projects be based?
Projects must be based in BC.
We fund projects in every region of the province — and, therefore, in the territories of many First Nations.
Why does REFBC give grants?
Our vision is a healthy environment that supports thriving, resilient, liveable communities from one generation to the next.
Accordingly, we support projects that advance sustainability, equity, and social justice in land use and real estate practices.
How can organizations apply?
Applications are submitted through an online form.
A Word template is available to help applicants draft their responses prior to submission.
