Real Estate Industry Grants Support Antiracism Training and Professional Development

At their March 2023 meeting, the Real Estate Foundation of BC’s Board of Governors approved six grants totalling $274,322.

REFBC grants support law and policy reform, applied research, community engagement, and professional and public education to advance sustainable, equitable, and socially just land use and real estate practices across BC.

In our work, we are committed to upholding and advancing implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. It is important for us to prioritize projects that support justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Since 1988, REFBC has awarded more than $100 million to non-profit organizations working to strengthen BC communities and protect our shared land and water.

The Spring 2023 grants are listed alphabetically by recipient organization below.

The BC Northern Real Estate Board (BCNREB) will subsidize travel costs to help instructors provide in-person professional development courses to realtors in small and remote communities. ($9,100)

The BC Real Estate Association (BCREA) will host in-person and virtual professional development sessions to help instructors create engaging learning environments. ($38,050)

The BC Real Estate Association (BCREA) will create an accredited, online course to help managing brokers effectively identify and report suspicious transactions. ($43,500)

The Fraser Valley Real Estate Board (FVREB) will produce a monthly podcast to inform realtors about business practices, legal issues, and market trends. ($20,000)

The Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV) will provide equity, diversity, and inclusion training to realtors to foster antiracism. ($45,350)

The Real Estate Institute of BC (REIBC) will produce annual research reports and webinar series to inform real estate professionals about topics such as climate change and reconciliation. ($118,322)
