Welcome, Megan!

We are delighted to welcome Megan Lau to our staff team.

Megan joins the Real Estate Foundation of BC (REFBC) as the Senior Communications Specialist. She will be supporting the team, our partners, and grantees to share the stories, lessons, and successes of the people and organizations we serve. Megan’s role also includes fostering learning internally and externally, and evolving REFBC’s approaches to strategic communication with care and creativity.

Megan brings an outstanding reputation as a communications professional across nonprofit, corporate, and government sectors. She has led teams and initiatives at the intersection of equity, justice, and sustainability. Throughout her career, she has developed and implemented progressive communications strategies that amplify underrepresented voices. From engaging Asian Canadian youth in environmental sustainability at hua foundation to co-founding an arts leadership program for young, racialized women, she expertly connects equity-seeking communities with opportunities that strengthen their autonomy and capacity.

Her experience includes staff and consultant roles developing strategy and leading campaigns for organizations such as the BC Coalition of Arts, Culture, and Heritage, First Peoples Cultural Council, Provincial Health Services Authority and the University of British Columbia.

At TELUS, she held a Senior Communications role with the STORYHIVE and TELUS Originals programs, establishing protocols for respectful collaboration with urban and rural Indigenous storytellers, and developing media production capacity in communities across BC and Alberta.

“My work as a communications strategist has been guided by the same values that drive REFBC: integrity, equity, decolonization, reciprocity, and sustainability. I’m inspired by REFBC’s commitment to Indigenous sovereignty and socially just land use and am honoured to advance these principles through strategic communications in the Senior Communications Specialist role.”

Megan is also a dedicated volunteer in her community, supporting people and organizations on matters related to communications, equity, and arts and culture; and producing publications and cultural events. She is also a proud dog owner, mercurial reader, and enthusiastic fan of film, music, television, and criticism.

Megan can be reached at megan.lau@refbc.ca. Please extend her a warm welcome.
