The Real Estate Foundation of BC is pleased to welcome Melissa McDowell to our staff team.
Melissa will be taking over the Grants Coordinator role, where she’ll help applicants and grantees navigate REFBC’s grant program, ensure our grant systems are running smoothly, and provide administrative support to the grants team.
Melissa is a self-described “database nerd” with a strong background in office administration, fundraising, and project coordination. In her most recent role at Simon Fraser University, she led the advancement office’s records management team. Melissa has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Saskatchewan, a Master of Arts from Simon Fraser University, and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from BCIT.
“After 10 years of working with fundraisers in the non-profit and higher ed sectors, I’m excited to learn about the grantmaking process from a grantor’s perspective,” Melissa said. “In the next few months, I’m looking forward to working with applicants and learning about cool, important projects happening in BC.”
Away from work, Melissa enjoys knitting, cycling the seawall, and trying new restaurants.
Noémi Pomerleau, who has served as our grants coordinator for the past year, has moved into the Operations Coordinator role.
