UNDRIP & REFBC

The Real Estate Foundation of BC works in the territories of First Nations across what is referred to as British Columbia. REFBC is committed to working in partnership with First Nations and supporting reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples.

Taking steps to uphold the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) is central to this commitment. We invite you to learn about our UNDRIP-related initiatives and to join us on our journey of learning and action.

Transformative Actions for UNDRIP Advancement

Transformative Actions for UNDRIP Advancement (TAUA) is a draft report prepared by Tara Marsden/Naxginkw for REFBC. The TAUA outlines how UNDRIP relates to REFBC’s work and identifies multiple actions in support of UNDRIP implementation for the Foundation consider.

First and foremost, the draft report is meant to invite dialogue and input from First Nations, the title and rightsholders of their territories; Indigenous-led organizations; and REFBC’s Indigenous partners and advisors. REFBC also intends to engage grantees, organized real estate, and the broader public in discussion on the path forward.

Input from rightsholders and the broader community will help REFBC create its first UNDRIP action plan and put its UNDRIP commitments into policy and practice.
