In her role, she’ll work to coordinate grant agreements, support communications, and administer this exciting program.
Adarshana is passionate about environmental sustainability, community engagement, and zero-waste living. She has professional experience in project coordination in the waste management and social service sectors. In her most recent role, she coordinated community engagement projects across the province in implementing programs to help seniors navigate through the justice system and understand their legal rights. In her work in waste management, she executed recycling, educational, and community outreach programs across different municipalities in Metro Vancouver.
She holds a Master of Science in Biology from India, another Master in Land and Water Systems from the University of British Columbia, and a certificate in Environmental Management from the University of Toronto. Her research at UBC involved working closely with farmers in British Columbia, Quebec, and Washington state to identify challenges and opportunities for growing organic cranberries.
“I’m very excited to be working with the Healthy Watersheds Initiative team and to collaborate with stakeholders across BC to; implement community-led restoration and conservation projects,” Adarshana said. “In the next few months, I’m looking forward to learning more about these inspiring diverse projects, streamlining grant-making processes, and making positive contributions towards watershed health, ecosystem services, and community resilience.”
In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, hiking, snowboarding, and biking.
